The other feature that earns steady praise is Bean Adapt, a guided setup that asks what roast you are using and sets temperature, intensity and grind accordingly, which removes most of the guesswork that makes a first super-automatic frustrating. Its milk system is the other headline: De'Longhi's LatteCrema carafe is widely held to produce the best automatic milk foam in the category, with adjustable froth levels per drink, and owners who have run it against the Swiss competition frequently rate the Eletta's milk drinks above machines costing considerably more.

In daily use the recurring complaints are specific and mostly benign. The biggest is water consumption — the machine rinses itself often enough that owners describe constantly refilling the tank and emptying the tray, and it is the single most-cited downside even from people who love it. The second is grind. This grinder offers a wide range, roughly thirteen steps against seven on some rivals, and that flexibility cuts both ways: it can genuinely choke itself if you go too fine. New owners chasing a syrupy shot set it to 2 or 2.5, the water tunnels around a puck it cannot penetrate, and the result is weak, watery coffee with a bone-dry puck. At $2,000 list this sits at the premium end, though its street price swings dramatically by region — it is markedly cheaper in Europe, where owners routinely describe it as unbeatable value, than in North America. Against the KitchenAid KF8 the trade-offs are unusually clear: the Eletta adds cold extraction and cold foam, more grind steps, better foam including non-barista plant milks, and room for large travel mugs, while the KitchenAid counters with swappable bean hoppers, a touchscreen and two milk drinks at once. Against a Jura, the Eletta's advantages are that its brew group comes out for cleaning, it does not tie you to proprietary maintenance products, and several owners who tried both returned to the De'Longhi specifically for better milk drinks. Within De'Longhi's own line it sits above the Magnifica Plus, and where the price gap is small the extra features make it the easy recommendation. Buy it if you drink cold coffee seriously and want the best automatic milk in the class; look elsewhere if a constantly self-rinsing machine would irritate you.
