Rocket Appartamento

The Rocket Appartamento is one of the most beloved entry prosumer machines — a heat-exchanger (HX) machine with the classic E61 group head, a commercial 58mm portafilter, a real steam wand, and Rocket's gorgeous fit and finish, all in a slimmer footprint than most E61 machines. It's the machine many people step up to when they want 'forever machine' build and simultaneous brew-and-steam without going full dual boiler.

The community loves the Appartamento for its looks, build quality, and the HX format that lets you steam and brew together. The well-known caveats are HX-specific: because a heat exchanger pulls brew water through the steam boiler, you perform a 'cooling flush' before pulling a shot to avoid over-temp water, and the Appartamento famously lacks a group pressure gauge, so you learn its behavior by feel. It's also a deliberately spartan, manual machine — no PID, no display — that rewards technique. Build aside, some note Rocket charges a premium for the brand and aesthetics.

It's best for buyers who want a beautiful, durable E61 machine and don't mind the HX cooling-flush ritual or learning by feel. At around $1,700 it's directly cross-shopped with the Lelit Mara X and Profitec Pro 300. Compared to the Mara X, the Appartamento is prettier and more iconic but the Mara X's dual-probe HX largely eliminates cooling flushes and adds a display for less money; compared to the Profitec Pro 300 dual boiler, the Rocket trades dual-boiler temperature control for E61 character and looks. It's the romantic, design-forward HX pick.
