Breville Infuser

The Breville Infuser is the older single-boiler, brew-only machine that sits just above the Bambino line in capability but below the all-in-one Barista models. It offers a 54mm portafilter, PID temperature control, low-pressure pre-infusion, and a manual steam wand. For years it was the value pick for someone who wanted Breville's pre-infusion and a manual workflow without a built-in grinder.

The community view today is that the Infuser is solid but somewhat eclipsed by the Bambino Plus, which heats faster (ThermoJet vs the Infuser's slower ThermoBlock), is more compact, and adds the automatic milk wand. Owners praise the Infuser's pre-infusion ramp, its real portafilter, and its straightforward maintenance, but note the slower heat-up and the more dated design. As always, the recurring refrain is that it needs a proper grinder and the non-pressurized basket to shine.

It's best for someone who finds it on sale and wants a no-frills manual single-boiler with pre-infusion, or who prefers a manual steam wand over the Bambino Plus's auto wand. At around $580 it's awkwardly priced against the cheaper, faster Bambino Plus, which is why many in the community now steer beginners to the Bambino unless the Infuser is discounted. Against the Gaggia Classic Pro, the Infuser trades modding potential and steam character for Breville's pre-infusion and easier out-of-box use.
